India got its dream tablet today.Government of India launched
Aakash (earlier known as sakshat) a 7" inch tablet deemed to be World's cheapest pc, which is equipped with
Android 2.2 (Froyo) and a
366 Mhz processor. The
7-inch tablet has
resistive multi-touch screen with
800x480 reolution and weighs
350 gm,
256 MB RAM and internal storage of
2GB flash memory. The Tablet also supports expendable memory of 32 GB and
2 USB ports.
The device will initially be made available to post-secondary students at a price of Rs1150 only (50% subsidy)
The commercial version of Akash
under the brand name of UbiSlate will be availabe in November at Rs 2999 will have an additional feature of cellular modem. If you want to use keyboard, you have to pay extra Rs 300 for a keyboard portfolio case.
